Sunny Coast:
Who will be going?
Year 12 leavers, fun-loving guys and girls, actually hundreds of them each year attend across all five events. Some are from up north, some from NSW, some from outback Qld, and stacks from SE Queensland. Schoolies from both state and private schools have come in the past. If you finish year 12 in 2010, you can be there.
Where do we stay?
Sunny Coast will be using two sites for SU-Schoolies: Alexandra Headlands Conference Centre and Luther Heights at Coolum.
What roles do the leaders play?
The leaders are there to provide support for the participants and facilitate many of the details which need to be taken care of on a daily basis. They will maintain an awareness of times for transfers to the different locations/events and have a responsibility to be aware of where participants are at various times. They aren’t there to cramp your style, but they are there to ensure that you get the most out of your Schoolies.
Do we have to follow the day to day itinerary?
In broad terms yes! Each event and group within that has its own itinerary and needs to work within this (otherwise you’ll miss out on too much). There is time scheduled where you can just hang out, shop, have space from leaders and other schoolies.
What is the Christian content for the week?
Sunny Coast each evening has a Christian speaker who communicates in a light, fun and energetic way.
How do I get there?
You can catch the bus from Brisbane. The SU-Schoolies coach schedule will be announced in September.
Can I take my own car?
You are welcome to find your own way to SU-Schoolies via private transport, but no driving will be necessary throughout the week. Bus transport is provided for all activities during the week.
Can I catch up with other friends on the coast?
You are welcome to catch up with friends and family during the week. People from outside the event are not permitted to come to the accommodation where you're staying but you are able to meet them off site - our suggestion is to meet them at the beach or at the shops during elective time. We do ask you to get permission from your site director before making arrangements to do this.

Where do we stay?
On Backflip you will spend two nights on long Island at the Resort and Three days and nights sailing the Whitsundays!
What roles do the leaders play?

What is the Christian content for the week?
On Backflip we have no formal Christian input. All of the leaders on SU Schoolies are Christians and Christian content arises out of conversations.
Do we have to follow the day to day itinerary?

How do I get there?
You will need to meet at the Airport at your allocated time. From there obviously you’ll Fly! Brisbane to Proserpine.
How many people per room?
At Club Croc on Long Island we stay in rooms which accommodate 4 people. While on the yachts they have open accommodation - guys at one end, and girls at the other. Believe me when I say you will sleep the best you’ve ever slept on the yachts.
Do we room with people we don't know?
Each participant gets to nominate three other people they would like to room with. We then do our best to match these so that everyone is sharing with as many friends as possible. The one circumstance where this doesn't happen is where there is a mixture of males and females in a group. In this case we will group the males together and the females together.
It’s stinger season, am I in danger?
In one word NO! All precautions are taken while on the yachts, on the Island and on the mainland. While snorkelling and swimming you will wear stinger suits, on Long Island you’ll swim at the resort pool. While tubing it will depend on tide and wind direction, if needed you will be asked to wear a stinger suit.
Will I get sea sick?
During your time on the yachts, we are only in open water for a total of about 45 minutes as you’re sheltered by the islands the rest of the time. The chances of anyone getting extremely sick are very slim. If you do normally get seasick take some ginger tablets before you're on your way to White Haven Beach. The yachts anchor in very sheltered inlets at night, so there's no chance of rocking or sickness then either.
I live closer to the Whitsundays than I do to Brisbane can I find my own way there?
Yes you can, please contact Elise Williams at SU to discuss how this can happen.
My parents have frequent flyer points can I use them?
As we are a group booking and book 12 months out from the event the answer is no. We only fly with Virgin Blue as their times are the only ones that work with our schedule of Yachts and Ferrys.
